Company from PA

On Father's Day, my ex had a cookout at his home as his sister and his niece from another sister were here from PA. I tried my best to get there early....but, as usual, I was late! I am never anywhere on time. I just have so much to do to get out the door! Cats to feed and scoop, the scoop pails to gather up and put all in one big pail and double bag it all, kitchen bag to tie up, then to get it all loaded....after I got my trunk unloaded from my visit to PetsMart the other night! Then back into the house to scrub my hands, again, and then get the cheesecakes out of the fridge and boxed up, gather up my purse, sunglasses, and shoes, and THEN out the door! Oh, yes, I also made a dish of brownies for Stosh to use for the brownie delight for another night's dessert, so I also had that dish to carry out. By the time I got the trash disposed of and headed up the street, I was already whooped! And, oh, was it hot!!! And humid, too! So....that is why I am always late! It's a habit, I know, but a hard one to break....I just can't stand to go anywhere and leave any trash behind in my house! It's just got to go with me every time!

Well, now back to the company and cookout....It was sooooo good to see Arlene again and reconnect with Sharon after so many years! Arlene is my ex's sister, and I hadn't seen her in a little over 2 years. I hadn't seen Sharon for literally years! Here she is a beautiful grown woman with a grown son!!! As a little girl, Sharon always entertained the family with her twirling and dancing, and, I must say, she hasn't lost her charm. She's still just as sweet as I remember. Arlene and I were friends in high school, although she was 2 years ahead of me. I remember our lunch table in the school cafeteria every day as being the best part of going to school! She has two daughters, so her family has now grown to include grandchildren and even two great-grandchildren, so we had a lot of catching up to do. It was a delightful afternoon, with many laughs, some over my cat tales. We had a great meal, a wonderful host and cook, and no one left the table hungry, that's for certain!

Arlene and Sharon are leaving tomorrow, so there was not enough time for me to prepare for a company dinner. The next time they come, I'll invite them to come share a meal at my place. I took a bad fall the other night, so I have been moving quite slowly, plus, with arthritis of the spine, it takes me days to get my house just so, shopping done and things together for company.

Did I get pictures? Again, no, I didn't! We were all showing pictures we had on our cameras but then didn't take any! I am still not 100% into this blogging thing, as I swear you all must carry your cameras around your neck all the time! You always seem to have photos of just everything! I need to get with it, wouldn't you say?

With or without pictures, it was a fun day for everyone...at least for me it was! I love seeing friends and family from back home since I don't get to PA very often.

Oh, a little message to Arlene and Sharon...."Y'all come back now, ya hear?"

I hope you all had a great Father's Day, too!

Hello, I am a first time visiter to your blog, but I can identify with you in reuniting with your past inlaws. I finally got to go to a function for a 'niece', my daughter's cousin, in January and I was so surprised and pleased with the hugs and genuine happiness from a few of my past 'sister inlaws'. There were still a few grudge holders since I left their brother 15 years ago, but what can you do.
Anyway, I also know a few people who have a hard time getting out the door. I must say, I am usually on time or early, but I do go through many of the pre-leaving steps you do. I just have to check all the doors, lights, stoves, etc. and make sure our dog has plenty of water and food and the air conditioner is on for her and the TV is on for her for company, etc. etc. Gotta smile and just enjoy.
Thanks for the smile!

glad you had a nice visit with arlene and patty's daughter. i saw arlene last year at the reunion. i didn't know her at first.

with all you have to take care of i'm surprised you can even get out the door - forget on time.

your cats are all so unique. it was fun looking at the various pics.

take care of yourself and from one who knows, "watch where you're going". you can't afford to break something.

Sounds like you had fun!

Now you know why I get up so early and start getting ready so far ahead of time! LOL But, I suppose since I'm a nurse I'm a plan-aholic. I'm sure if I had as many kitties, I would be up 2 hours earlier to get everything done...lol. I'm an early bird by nature...drilled into me as a child I suppose.

I'm like you, I don't remember to get pictures. I've missed out on some great things to share on the blog. Maybe we'll get with the program!

I can only imagine how hard it must be to get out the door with all your kitties! With just my two it can be hard!

Gosh, I hope you're okay after your fall. Sounds scary.

Sounds like you had a very nice reunion. My parents were divorced, but they always remained very friendly and loving towards each other's families. That really meant a lot to me as a kid.

Diane, I was up at 4:30am on Sunday! And I still couldn't make it on time 12 hours later! LOL I got to messing in my closet with my clothes, trying to find a certain pair of navy slacks but ended up shortening a new pair and tapering the legs in. They're making them too big for me these days! In don't like them looking baggy like that. LOL

Sounds like a good time was had by all, except for your fall. Hope you're feeling better by now.

I have severe arthritis myself so I know what you mean about it taking a while to get over falls and other injuries.

And I hurt just as bad in hot weather as I do in the Winter, no matter what other people say about hot weather being better on your arthritis. Phooey!

Hope all is well with you and your kitties. ;o)

Love and hugs,

Diane

Yes, we do carry our cameras around our neck or in our pocket most of the time!!!lol!! You'll get the hang of it soon! I want to see more pictures of your cats.

Coming from someone who has had several falls lately I know where you're coming from. We just don't bounce back like we used to do we? I guess I must have strong bones as I haven't broken any yet! YET!

Glad you had fun with Sharon and Arlene. Always good to reconnect with people isn't it?

Well it wouldn't matter if i never went to bed..i would still be late. Jason says I will be so late that I wont make the hurse...or the funeral..I was on time for our wedding and I think the only reason i was at the hospital on time for Emmy to come was because they induced me the night before!

I completely understand...trust me!

Oh yes, part of being a blogger is carrying your camera around with you wherever you go! lol I never thought in a million years that I would be taking pictures of my food, especially in a restaurant, yet I'm doing it now since I've been blogging! hehe

Sounds like a wonderful day you had and how lovely to catch up with Arlene and Sharon again! I'm the opposite of you, I'm always early...even when I try to be a bit late, I'm still early. lol xoxo

I don't even bother with my camera case anymore, I just stick the thing in my purse and it goes everywhere with me. I have been thinking about taking pictures of our newspaper press (the ugly green giant) and doing a post about where I work. I'll get right on that! lol.

I am so sorry you took a fall, please let me know that you are really ok, just sore.

I love reconnecting. It's a little awkward sometimes, but oh so much fun! It's wonderful to hear that you had a lovely time.

I also want to take a moment and thank you. You are a true friend (although I wouldn't recognize you in a crowd). I love your heart. I look forward to your posts on my blog all the time.

Nancy, you are one special chic.

So sorry to hear about your fall, but was glad to read you had such a nice dinner and visit with Sharon and Arlene.
I have a very small digital camera that is always in my purse. I take it everywhere with me. I didn't use a camera that much when I first started blogging. That just sort of evolved..
hugs!
