Starbucks Outing plus Dear Little Hannah

Wednesday, my friend, Diane, and I decided to go to Starbucks, but we planned to do a little shopping beforehand. We hit Anna's Linens where I found a deep ceramic pie plate! I just HAD to have it! I always have been a sucker for dishes. All I could think about was a BIG fresh peach pie in that dish and then apple pie later on when apple season arrives!

I am not a true Starbucks fan.......yet! I like my coffee weak, and I have found theirs to be kind of strong for my taste. I need to experiment with their other kinds of drinks until I find one I really like. So I ordered a Chocolatey Chocolate Chip Creme, just a small one in case I didn't like it. It was okay, but I found it to be icy and watery tasting. Not at all what I was expecting. Guess I was expecting it be like a Steak 'n Shake thick milkshake! LOL I also ordered a piece of lemon pound cake, as pound cake is one of my weaknesses! Now, that I did enjoy!!! Anyhow, it was a nice afternoon spent in a quiet atmosphere where we could just chit-chat to our hearts' content!

Then yesterday, I had to get the oil changed in my car. Always enjoy going to this import garage as I know the lady who is the bookkeeper there, and we catch up on each other's lives while I am waiting. As I was paying and about ready to leave, in walks a young lady I know, Tara, with her little 2-year old daughter, Hannah! I used to work as a builder's agent for Tara's husband, Richard. I worked out of a model home and sold his homes. I really loved that job, as I love working with the public!!! Worked there 2 years or so and then quit to take care of my mother rather than put her in a nursing home. This is Hannah below. Isn't she darling? Notice her fake tattoo...she was so proud of that!

Anyhow, Hannah had just come from the dentist from having a couple of cavities filled. Bless her little heart! She is such a beautiful child, as is her 4-year old brother, Richie. Hannah let me snap her picture. Isn't it funny how all kids know what "say cheeeeese" means? LOL She wasn't even walking the last time I saw her! Richard still helps me with things around my home. Tara wanted me to come up to their place yesterday, but I had to check on Buster yet and then had to go to PetsMart for cat food and litter, Wal-Mart for groceries, and CVS for insulin for the two diabetic cats. I never got home til 8:30 last evening as it was. I am going to make the time and just take a day next week to go visit them. I love Tara and Richard as if they were my own! You'd think they lived three states away, but it's only a 15-mile drive! Below is a picture of their new home that Richard built himself!

Just a little update on Buster....he is doing quite well. The second day he didn't feel too well, but he is back to normal once again. He never did lose his appetite. So Round One of the chemo is over...four more rounds to go over the next 15 weeks. It's actually every 3 weeks. He has to have bloodwork done first of the week to check his blood count. That has to come from his jugular vein in the neck so as to save the leg veins for the IV line necessary for the chemo treatments. Poor little fella!

I am trying to get around to visit everyone's blog, so please be patient with me, as I hope to make my rounds again by Saturday afternoon. See you all then! Have a great weekend!!!

I'm not a Starbucks fan either. I don't drink coffee so I get hot chocolate and I found it to be a bit watery too. Their desserts are great though!

Hannah is adorable! Poor little thing having to have fillings already!

I L.O.V.E that pie plate! I wonder if Linens and Things would have it. I make pies all the time and I really like how that one looks so deep! Great purchase Nancy, if it comes up missing you'll know where to look for it! lol!

Has Lyle posted anything new yet? I keep looking for a comment from them!

Glad Buster is doing well. I hope the rest of the rounds of chemo go as well for him and that he is his old self again. I posted a picture of a kitty that is hanging around here this summer. I just put a dish of food out for her as she acts hungry. I see another cat in my future but this one already gets along with Noodles and Munchie so that's good.

Have a great weekend and be sure to pick up the award off my latest post!

Dear Nancy ~~ What a cutie, little Hannah and that house looks wonderful
Nice to know such nice folks.
Thank you for your comments and I am sorry you had a long time looking after your mother and you did a great job, when it was needed. I am sure you miss her now, Glad you enjoyed the story and jokes. my son and D-I-L
have been and gone and we had a lovely time together, as usual. Geoff does a lot of jobs for me, also as usual. Take care, my friend. Keep on smiling. Olive's
blog is still open. It was very busy for a while and not showing up. Love, Merle.

Your photos are excellent. You also have an assortment of photos and writing that really flows well together.

And it seems like your plate is full and you need more time for yourself.

Hi again Nancy ~~ Tank you for another comment. I showed Olive's blog to my son and his wife today and just tried again before writing this and it's still there. Maybe if you go from my blogroll, of Aussie blogs and click on Olive there. I hope you can get it. My most amazing story of Olives, was she had a toothache at 30
and went to get it out and said, I can't keep coming back for each one, so she said Take them all out. WITH NO ANESTHETIC all those years ago. She said she fainted twice and Mike asked her Did it hurt, and she crossly said, I told you I fainted twice. She was a charcter. Take care, ove, Merle.

Hi Nancy,

Your photos are delightful. Little Hannah is a doll, isn't she? I love her little fake tattoo. Did I tell you I have a tattoo?

My son in law collects deep dish pie plates. He would like that one. He is a wonderful cook and baker. The kitchen set-up is pretty much his. Gretch can cook and does well, but Brian LOVES it.

I know you have a really busy life. Add to that a sick cat and I don't know how you do it.

As for Starbucks, I just guess I'm addicted. I had a wonderful iced mocha last night at the ball game. I tolerate baseball, but go for the atmosphere (and the food).

Have a great weekend.

~hippo hugs~

P.S. Glad you had time to post again. I check your site every day.

Hi Nancy,
I'm not a coffee lover, but, when I visit a "Barnes and Noble" bookstore in our area, sometimes they offer us small cups of coffee to enjoy while we browse. They have a Starbucks in the bookstore. So occasionally, I break down and buy a cup while I'm waiting for my husband and just laze the afternoon away. He always knows where to find me, because I love the bookstore.

Thank you for your visit to my blog today. It was a bit long, because my sister reads it and wants to keep up with my comings and goings. So it was mostly for her benefit. I mentioned to her I was thinking of closing it, but she said, no I enjoy reading it. So I will be mostly writing it for her.

Hi Nancy. Love the pie dish. I personally think a strawberry-rhubarb pie would be wonderful in that dish! Hannah is a little cutie, and I think she knows it.

Hi Nancy,
I'm glad Buster is handling his treatment so well.I hate it when my baby is sick.
Hannah is a real cutie. I bet you spoil her rotten too.I also have a few kids that think they are mine.LOL
It doesn't matter, they live next door and are the same ages as my grands.
I love the house.I sometimes wish our house was bigger....Till I start cleaning that is.
I like the pie plate. But I would drop it getting it out of the oven.My wrist aren't what they were. I hope you finally got some sleep... I think you are a night owl.
God bless, Donna

Hi Nancy,
What a great deep dish pie plate. That would be perfect for chicken pot pie too! I'll have to look for one at LNT.
Hannah is just such a cutie :)
Glad Buster is on the mend.
Hope your weekend was wonderful. We had a nice relaxing mini break.

We did have a nice time, didn't we? I'm a sucker for different coffees. I'm pretty much an addict, I suppose. LOL

Love the pie plate. I'm sure you'll fill it with delicious fruit pies!

Happy that Buster is doing well. Hope all of the kitties health improves.

Hannah is so cute! She certainly likes the camera.

I would LOVE to have you send me that plate!!!!!!!!!!! I just love it!!!!!! Let me know how much for it and how much for shipping and I will get a check right out to you!!! You are so thoughtful to do this for me! I'll need your address to send the check. I'm all excited now!

I think the kitty that is hanging around has a home. My son said that she lives at a house on his street. We'll see when winter comes if she is still around. I will take her in if she is left outside in the winter! If they are stupid enough to leave her out they don't deserve to have her!!!!

I've got a $5 giftcard I need to use at Starbucks. I only go there in Winter and get the White Chocolate Peppermint Latte usually.
Their baked goods are pretty divoon though!

What a cutie pie- love the tattoo!

That pie plate looks so.... homey!

Glad Buster is doing well and holding his own.

I thought I was the only person on earth who doesn't like Starbucks! I really dislike it.

That pie plate is gorgeous! I love it!

Little Hannah is the cutest. It is funny how quickly children learn to pose when you say, "Say cheese!" Adorable!

So glad to hear Buster is doing so well. Amazing.
